A bearing component (2) for use in a humeral prosthesis, the bearing component (2) comprising a concave bearing surface (4) that terminates at a continuous substantially circular rim (10), the rim (10) defining a first plane (12); a convex engaging surface (6), that is on an opposite side of the bearing component (2) to the bearing surface (4) and terminates in an annular shoulder (18), the shoulder (18) defining a second plane (14); and a connecting region (8) which extends between the first and second planes (12, 14), wherein the first and second planes (12, 14) are not parallel.
