A method and an apparatus for driving an AMOLED are provided to display different type data such as a window area and a partial area in an AMOLED operation at the same time. An apparatus for driving an AMOLED(Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) includes an AMOLED panel(150), a memory(120), a source driver(140) and a gate driver(130), and a controller(110). The memory stores data to be displayed in the AMOLED panel. The source driver receives graphic data from the memory and displays the received graphic data in the AMOLED panel. The gate driver executes addressing on the lines of the AMOLED panel. The controller controls the display of first and second images at one of the lines from light emitting times of first and second regions during a sub-field interval.
