PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner wherein the decline of suction force with time is suppressed. SOLUTION: By selecting a cleaning state by a switching mechanism 58, coarse dust D1 is collected in a separation part 34 and fine dust D2 is collected in a filtration part 35 respectively. By selecting a fine dust moving state by the switching mechanism 58, it is made possible to move the fine dust D2 collected in the filtration part 35 to a sub dust collecting chamber 22 by outside air. By selecting a coarse dust moving state by the switching mechanism 58, it is made possible to move the coarse dust D1 collected in the separation part 34 to the sub dust collecting chamber 22 by the outside air. Thus, the decline of the suction force with time is suppressed. When detecting the mounting of a new paper pack 38 on the sub dust collecting chamber 22 by a mounted sensor 41, the switching mechanism 58 selects the fine dust moving state when a motor-driven blower 5 is activated, and the dust inside the filtration part 35 is moved into the paper pack 38 mounted on the sub dust collecting chamber 22. The filter part 38c of the paper pack 38 folded in a non-use state is inflated and the capacity of the paper pack 38 is effectively utilized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
