PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce contamination of a molten steel at the initial casting stage of a following charge, which contamination is caused by a remainder of a preceding charge, by making use of a connecting member having an appropriate partition and of a cooling material, and to early solidify the molten steel part at the initial casting stage of the following charge, which is contaminated with the remainder of the preceding charge and by air-oxidation, so that the cleanliness of a following steel material is improved when conducting a sequential continuous-casting of different grades of steel. SOLUTION: In the sequential continuous-casting of different grades of steel, a connecting member having a partition 8 is set at the rear end of molten steel 3a of a preceding charge, and then molten steel 3b of a following charge is cast. The connecting member is narrower in dimension than the cast slab, has a partition 8 having a vertical collar part 8a on its periphery, and is set at the rear end of the molten steel 3a of the preceding charge. A slag film 7 adhering to the inner wall of a mold is removed before the molten steel 3b of the following charge is cost. Further, a cooling material 9 is set on the partition 8 of the connecting member and between the outer periphery of the partition and an inner wall 1a of the mold, so that the length of a non-stationary part, which consists of the molten steel contaminated at the initial stage of the following charge, is reduced.
