<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the luminance range of input image data in an image processing apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: Under the control of a microcomputer 20, an underexposure control value obtained by correcting a reference exposure control value so that the high-luminance side luminance range of a scene is within the detection luminance range of an imaging device 12 is calculated, and an imaging operation to which the underexposure control value is applied is performed. A weighting coefficient generation processing unit 24 acquires a plurality of stages of exposure correction values based upon the underexposure control value. A plurality of weighting coefficients which are set as many as the number of stages of the exposure correction values and also set according to lightness of pixels at the same positions of lighting components based upon input image data so that the total value of the pixels at the same positions is 1 are multiplied by multiplication coefficients corresponding to corresponding exposure correction values and respective multiplication values are summed up to calculate the gain quantity for the input image data in a gain control unit 26. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
