PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk reproducing device shortening the time of discriminating the type of an optical disk. SOLUTION: An arrangement information storage means 43 stores arrangement information for arranging an objective lens 31a of a pickup 31 at a position to focus on an information recording surface of the optical disk 5 when the optical disk 5 of a type optionally determined from among the plurality of types is conveyed by a conveyance means 20. When the conveyance means 20 starts to convey the optical disk 5 inserted into an insertion/discharge slot, the objective lens 31a is moved by a moving means 42a to a position to focus on the information recording surface of the optical disk 5. A signal determination means 42b determines whether or not a signal is recognized by comparison of a signal output by the pickup 31 having the objective lens 31a with a predetermined threshold during the conveyance of the optical disk 5.
