PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner in which an image having excellent quality is formed by uniformizing the beam spot diameters over a whole face to be scanned by adjusting the incident position of a light beam onto an optical deflection face in a main scanning direction. SOLUTION: The laser writing unit 22 of the image forming apparatus includes a light-source device 31 and an image-forming optical system 32. The light-source device 31 includes an adjusting screw 56 for adjusting the orientation of the light beam 59 from a light-source unit 48 being a light source part and an adjusting screw hole 69, a vibrating mirror 85 which deflects the light beam 59 on a deflection plane 95 and reciprocally scans on the face to be scanned in a main scanning direction X. The adjusting screw 56 and the adjusting screw hole 69 are provided on the light-source unit 48 to serve as orientation adjusting units for the radiation position of the light beam 59 from a semiconductor laser 51 of the light-source unit 48 in the main scanning direction X on the deflection plane 95 by adjusting the orientation of the light-source unit 48 in the main scanning direction X, and further make it possible to radiate the light beam 59 on the center of the deflection plane 95.
