PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device that can provide improved display quality of a moving image display by suppressing the occurrence of a flicker phenomenon while suppressing moving image blur. SOLUTION: The video display device is provided with: an LCD panel 11 constituted of a plurality of horizontal lines and comprising a plurality of pixels; a gate driver 13 repeating for each horizontal line of the LCD panel 11 and at a prescribed cycle, a first display processing which displays input video information in an video information display period and a second display processing which displays a non-video signal with a gradation number different from that of the video information in a non-video display period; and a control circuit 15 which controls the gradation number in the second display processing in accordance with a time rate of the non-video display period with respect to the prescribed cycle.
