PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of performing efficient air conditioning by securely discriminating a residential area from a non-residential area and preventing detection errors based on irregular change of temperature caused by waving of a curtain, insertion of sunshine, etc. SOLUTION: A human body detecting device mounted on an indoor unit is provided with first/second human body detecting sensors and a presence/absence determining means for determining presence or absence of a person in a predetermined area according to outputs from the first/second human body detecting sensors. The first human body detecting sensor detects presence or absence of a person in a first area which is a part of the predetermined area.
