<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing device 1 for a reciprocating shaft which materializes an improvement in the frictional characteristic besides stabilizing a posture of a main lip 11 with respect to an axially reciprocating shaft. <P>SOLUTION: The inner peripheral surface of a main lip 11 made of a rubber-like elastic material contains a seal edge 11a taken as a sliding seal by slidably bringing the whole periphery thereof into an intimate contact with an outer peripheral surface of a shaft, a supporting edge 11b for stabilizing the main lip 11 by being situated on the axial outside and brought into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the shaft and a plurality of grooves 11c extending circumferentially toward the opposite side to the seal edge 11a at established intervals from the supporting edge 11b so as to secure favorable lubricity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
