<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, a device, and a kit for differentiating a singular pulmonary embolism and a multiple pulmonary embolism from each other in a subject suspected to suffer from an acute pulmonary embolism. <P>SOLUTION: Differentiation between singular and multiple pulmonary embolisms in a subject suspected to suffer from an acute lung embolism is carried out by using a device and a kit suitable for performing a method comprising a step for determining an amount of NT-proBNP in a sample of the subject suspected to suffer from an acute pulmonary embolism and a step for comparing the amount to a reference amount. Further, differentiation between acute and chronic pulmonary embolisms in a subject is carried out by using a device and a kit suitable for performing a method comprising a step for determining an amount of NT-proANP at a first time point and that at a second time point and a step for comparing the determined amounts with each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
