The invention relates to a boat roof, in particular a yacht roof, on a boat deck, the boat roof having a roof element. The roof element can be raised via a pivoting mechanism with a lifting unit, by pivoting about a pivoting spindle in order to produce, for deck areas remaining as a result, an opening gap between the roof element and the remaining deck area. The invention also relates to a boat with a boat roof of this type.
