PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring method which can accurately detect an abnormality of clearance in the sliding face of the press mold. SOLUTION: The method for measuring the clearance of a press mold 1 for measuring the clearance between a sliding face 20a in a lower mold 11 in the press mold 1 and a sliding face 21a in a cushion 12 disposed vertically slidably to the lower mold 11 comprises a detecting step of disposing an eddy-current sensor 33 around the sliding face 21a on the cushion 12 side, inducing an eddy current by the eddy-current sensor 33 in a plurality of slits 34, 34, etc. juxtaposed vertically along the sliding face 20a on the lower mold 11 side, and detecting an output voltage based on the eddy current induced in each of the slits 34, 34, etc. and a measuring step of measuring the clearance of the sliding faces 20a, 21a based on the output voltage detected by the detecting step.
