<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a watertight compound for a submarine cable capable of preventing water penetration even when used for divided three parts not subjected to surface satin finishing, so that a submarine cable can be manufactured at low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The watertight compound for a submarine cable comprises a polyalkylene glycol (A), a urethane prepolymer (B) which is an addition reaction product of a polyalkylene glycol and a diisocyanate compound, and a high-boiling point aromatic hydrocarbon compound (C) which is liquid at room temperature, wherein the polyalkylene glycol (A) has a hydroxyl value of 9-17, the urethane prepolymer (B) has an isocyanate group content of 2.8-3.6 mass%, and a molar ratio (isocyanate group concentration/hydroxyl group concentration) of isocyanate group concentration (NCO mol/g) in the urethane prepolymer (B) to hydroxyl group concentration (OH mol/g) in the polyalkylene glycol (A) is 1.2-2.4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
