The method involves moving a sheet (6) along a conveying path, transferring the sheet at a sheet margin from a gripper system (25) to another gripper system (26). A movement of the sheet perpendicular to a conveying direction at the sheet margin is restricted by the gripper systems before delivery, where the sheet is made of paper, plastic or metal. The gripper systems are provided with a number of grippers arranged in rows, and the sheet margin is deformed by flaring or folding. The gripper systems are arranged at a pressure cylinder (20) and a transfer drum (22). An independent claim is also included for a device for conveying a sheet.
