A lift installation with at least one support means, which comprises at least one cage run supporting a lift cage and at least one counterweight run supporting a counterweight, is disclosed. A hanging cable with integrated conductors for transmission of energy and/or control signals is provided, and this is installed in the form of a hanging loop between a fixing point and the lift cage or the counterweight. Along the hanging cable, and fixed to its outside, weight elements are fixed to increase its weight per metre.
