The device has a rotation force generating mechanism producing the rotation force for moving an actuator (42) in a direction of a rotation stop position area. A determination mechanism (46) determines the rotation value of the actuator, which is a value, at which the actuator is rotated by the rotation force of the actuator. A control mechanism controls the actuator based on the signal and the determined rotation value. A learning device learns the rotation stop position area corresponding to the gear position. An independent claim is also included for a control method for a gear position changing mechanism.
