<p>A received signal is amplified in an amplifier to create an amplified signal. The amplified signal is then filtered. The power of permanent common pilot sub-carriers present in the filtered amplified signal is calculated. A wideband power measurement is determined based on the amplified signal, and a narrowband power measurement is determined based on the filtered amplified signal. The first gain for the amplifier is controlled in dependence on the calculated power of the permanent common pilot sub-carriers, the wideband power measurement and the narrowband power measurement. The power of the permanent common pilot sub-carriers may be calculated in the frequency domain to mitigate fast switching of the controlled first gain. The filtered amplified signal may be amplified in a further amplifier, and a second gain can be controlled for the further amplifier in dependence on the calculated power of the permanent common pilot sub-carriers, the wideband power measurement and the narrowband power measurement.</p> |
