A navigation apparatus and a method for researching routes thereof are provided to guide a new route while maintaining a traveling direction without research even when vehicles are deviated from searched routes. A navigation apparatus includes a GPS(Global Positioning System) receiver(10), a memory(40), and a main controller(50). The GPS receiver receives GPS satellite signals and calculates a current position. The memory stores information on map information and a route search time. The main controller researches a route by using the route search time. The memory includes a map memory(42) and a searched information storing unit(44). The map memory stores the map information. The searched information storing unit stores the route search time.
