A method for providing an alternative service for a fringe area in a DMB network is provided to move to a region with good receive sensitivity for a DMB electric wave when the DMB receive sensitivity is poor and offer the alternative service, previously set by a user, automatically to the user until the DMB electric wave is normally received, thereby removing the inconvenience of a user and improving DMB service satisfaction. A method for providing an alternative service for a fringe area in a DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) network comprises the following steps of: setting an alternative service selected by a user if the user selects an arbitrary alternative service in a DMB alternative service setting menu(S101); receiving broadcasting data from a DMB broadcasting center and providing the broadcasting data to the user if the user selects a DMB server during movement(S102); checking whether a current region is the fringe area, in which a DMB electric wave is not received, during the movement(S103); returning to 102 stage if the current region is not the fringe area and if so, provide the alternative service selected by the user to the user(S104); checking whether the DMB electric wave is normally received(S105); and returning to 104 stage if the DMB electric wave is not received continuously and if so, stopping the alternative service, and providing the previously provided DMB service to the user(S106). |
