A dishwasher and a controlling method thereof are provided to prevent overdriving of the dishwasher by installing a temperature display part for displaying colors according to the temperature. A dishwasher comprises a main body, a temperature sensor installed inside the main body to detect the temperature, and a temperature display part. The temperature display part displays colors according to the temperature detected by the temperature sensor. The temperature sensor detects one of temperature in a dish rack and a washing room in which dishes are placed. The temperature display part is formed at an edge of displays(50) for showing the operation state. The colors on the temperature display part varies according to the temperature.
