摘要 An apparatus and a method for mechanical test of a surface of an optical disk are provided to ensure fast and accurate classification of qualified and disqualified products with an absolute reference, and increase reliability of mechanical endurance test by generating scratches that are most likely to be generated in real life. An apparatus for mechanical test of a surface of an optical disk(30) comprises a rotary plate(20) for rotating the optical disk, and a plurality of abrasion wheels(10) comprising a first abrasion wheel rotating in a first direction and a second abrasion wheel rotating in a second direction for generating scratches by contacting the optical disk. The scratches are generated while the abrasion wheels exert a predetermined load of 0.5N(50gf) to 16.2N(1650gf) on the rotating optical disk during 5 times of its rotation. The endurance of the optical disk is determined by comparing the result obtained from the scratches generated on the surface of the optical disk with a predetermined reference value. When the optical disk is determined to have the predetermined endurance, the depth of scratches generated on the surface of the optical disk is in a range of 0 to 2mum.
