<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in-plane switching liquid crystal display element which has a wide field of view, does not cause display irregularity and has satisfactory display quality. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display element is provided with: a pair of substrates of which the inner surfaces facing each other are respectively subjected to alignment treatment in parallel and in reversal direction to each other; a liquid crystal layer which is made of a nematic liquid crystal having negative dielectric anisotropy and is enclosed between the pair of substrates; a plurality of pixel electrodes 4 in which a plurality of elongated electrode parts 41 are formed leaving an interval in parallel on a predetermined unit region for forming one pixel, the plurality of elongated electrode parts 41 are respectively bent substantially in a dog leg shape and are formed in such a shape that two elongated edges 42a, 42b thereof intersect at substantially the same angle with respect to the alignment treatment directions 1a, 2a, on the inner surface of the one side substrate 2; and a counter electrode 5 which is disposed so as to be insulated from the pixel electrodes 4 on the substrate 2 side and forms a horizontal electric field between the plurality of elongated electrode parts 41 of the pixel electrodes 4 and the counter electrode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
