PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sialic acid thioglycoside polymer and to provide a polymer suppliable as a medicine in relation to a pharmaceutical comprising the polymer as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: The sialic acid thioglycoside polymer is represented by the chemical formula (wherein, R1represents a hydroxy group, an amino group or an acetyl group; R2represents hydrogen, a metal atom or a methyl group; and m and n are each an integer of≥1 and may each be same or different) and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a hydrate thereof.
