A method for dispersing a solid is provided to allow incorporation of a hydrophobic solid into a commercially available aqueous product without changing the composition and using a separate emulsifier. A method for dispersing a solid having a solubility of 1 part by weight or less to 100 parts by weight of water at 20 deg.C under 1020 hPa, comprises the steps of: incorporating at least one self-emulsifying organopolysiloxane(A) into an aqueous formulation; and further incorporating the solid(B) thereto. The method further comprises a steps of incorporating a basic nitrogen-containing organosilicon compound(C) in an amount of 0-0.5 wt% in addition to (A).
