<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system capable of estimating water content of a fuel cell by correcting the effect of ambient condition of a fuel cell body (for example, environment temperature and gas pressure) on the measurement value of impedance. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell system comprises an impedance measuring means (1040) which measures impedance of a fuel cell (100), and a water content estimating means (1042) which estimates water content of the fuel cell based on the relation between the impedance and the estimated water content of the fuel cell.
