PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotating target X-ray tube which allows a rotating target to rotate at an ultrahigh-speed, thereby improving performance and getting long focus in the width direction, and eliminating the risk of contact of a separator with a target portion, and an X-ray generator using the rotating target X-ray tube. SOLUTION: A cooling medium passage 30 for running a cooling medium along a cooled surface 13a on the back side of a target surface 13 is provided in a rotating target 1. A separator 20 is provided in stationary state in the rotating target, and the cooling medium passage is divided into an flow-in passage 31 running the cooling medium toward the cooled surface and an flow-out passage 32 running the cooling medium away from the cooled surface. A cylindrical diaphragm 11f forming a cylindrical passage 33 between itself and the cooled face is formed inside the inner periphery of the cooled face integrally with the rotating target 1, to communicate the flow-in passage with one axial end of the cylindrical passage and the outflow passage with the other end. A rotary vane 11d is provided in a radial direction passage 31a of a terminal part of the flow-in passage and fixed vanes 23 are provided in a radial direction passage 32a of a starting end of the flow-out passage.
