DISPENSING CLOSURE FOR WET ASEPTIC AND LOW PRESSURE APPLICATIONS

A dispensing closure (100) suitable for aseptic dispensing of low pressure beverages and fluids of a container includes a base cap (110) and a top cap (150). The base cap (110) has a tubular portion (116), optionally provided with a reinforcing brace (130) at its upper end, that extends upward from a base cap top portion (114). A disklike member (118) having an annular flange like member (126) centered thereon is supported above an upper surface (120) of the tubular portion (116) by one or more wall segments (124). When the top cap (150) having an orifice (156) is assembled onto and in a closed position against the base cap (110), a first seal (167) is provided by an interference fit of a first portion defined on the interior surface (158) of the cylindrical skirt (152) from the top cap against an exterior surface (129) from an exterior periphery of the disklike member (118), and a second seal (169) is provided between a second portion defined on the interior surface (158) of the cylindrical skirt from the top cap against an exterior surface (138) from an exterior periphery of the tubular portion (116) such that an internal pressure from any content in the container is directed radially outwardly to the interior surface (158) and to eliminate or reduce internal pressure attempting to move the top cap (150) to an open position. The closure may be provided with a tamper evidencing dust cover (180).
