<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for re-generating a catalyst for manufacturing methacrylic acid which has excellent catalytic activity and persistence and to provide a method for manufacturing methacrylic acid with excellent conversion ratio and selectivity using this catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: A catalyst for manufacturing methacrylic acid consisting of a heteropolyacid compound containing phosphorus and molybdenumn is regenerated by heat-treating a mixture containing a deteriorated catalyst, an ammonium radical, a nitric acid radical and water at 100°C or higher before drying and sintering. Then, methacrylic acid is manufactured by a vapor-phase catalytic-oxidation reaction of a compound selected from methacrolein, isobutylaldehide, isobutane and isobutyric acid in the presence of this catalyst. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
