PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of generating RGB color image data of excellent color reproducibility from imaging signals from an imaging element without providing an IR cut filter with a front face of the imaging element. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus comprises: a color image data generation unit 54 for generating RGB color image data from an imaging signal of an R (red) component, an imaging signal of a G (green) component and an imaging signal of a B (blue) component which are output from the imaging element 100; an infrared image data generation unit 53 for generating infrared image data from an imaging signal of an IR (infrared) component output from the imaging element 100; and a high color reproducibility RGB color image data generation unit 56 which uses the RGB color image data and the infrared image data to generate high color reproducibility RGB color image data obtained by improving color reproducibility of the RGB color image data.
