PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, enabling sliding displacement of a paper feed cassette using an existing driving source, and achieving reduction of cost. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus includes: a paper feed cassette 3 which has a storing space 4 for storing a plurality of carrying sheets and which is housed to be slid and displaced in a printer body 2. The paper feed cassette 3 includes: a jump base plate 22 for upward tilting the downstream side in the sheet carrying direction of the carrying sheet stored in the storing space 4; and a rotary plate 26 engaged to upward tilt the jump base plate 22 and driving the jump base plate 33 to tilt upward by power transmission from a driving motor provided on the printer body 2. The paper feed cassette 3 is provided with a rack-like engaged part extending along the direction of sliding and displacement to the printer body 2, and the printer body 2 is provided with a driven gear 35 which transmits the power of the driving motor to the engaged part to thereby slide and displace the paper feed cassette 3.
