A method for discriminating colors in remote sensing images is provided to automatically discriminate cloud-contaminated regions in image data using only a visible band without using a thermal infrared or near infrared band. A method for discriminating colors in remote sensing images includes the steps of: (20) calculating color indices of red, green, blue in color images; (30) subjecting the color indices to vector synthesis in a color index ring; (60) calculating a mixing index for three color-mixed degree from the synthesized vector size; (70) specifying a mixing index threshold that discriminates cloud from sun glint using the direction angle value of the synthesized vector; (80) discriminating cloud from sun glint in image using the threshold; and combining thin cloud and sun glint regions discriminated by the previous steps with thick cloud regions discriminated by image brightness to distinguish the contaminated points in image into thick cloud, thin cloud, and sun glint zones by pixel unit.
