PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection system for a railway vehicle which can detect the number of revolutions and a rotation angle by a simple structure. SOLUTION: The detection system for the railway vehicle has a circular magnetic steel plate which rotates with the running of a railway vehicle, a plurality of projections and recesses which are arranged on the periphery of the magnetic steel plate at regular intervals, and a speed detector which is provided on the periphery of the magnetic steel plate and at a position being not in contact with the magnetic steel plate. A partial height of the projections or recesses of the magnetic steel plate is made shorter than the other projections and recesses. The position of the projection or recess which is shorter than the other projections and recesses is detected on the basis of voltage detected by the speed detector. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
