The invention relates to an arrangement for handling a paper, cardboard, tissue or other fibrous-material web (1) in a machine for producing and/or finishing the same, with an endlessly circulating belt (2) of high flexural rigidity, which wraps around a rotatably mounted control roller (3) with an angle of wrap (5), wherein at least one end of the control roller (3) is displaceably mounted along an adjusting zone (7) for setting the belt tension. In this case, the running of the belt is to be improved and the lateral stress of the belt (2) is to be minimized by the angle of wrap (5) lying between 90 and 180° and the adjusting direction of the control roller (3) lying approximately perpendicular to the bisector (4) of the angle of wrap (5).
