PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar antenna for a paper sheet detecting device which detects a paper sheet by more surely detecting a signal generated by a magnetic substance imparted to the paper sheet to be conveyed and moved between planar antennas, while suppressing the influences due to leaked magnetic field generated between the planar antennas being proximately disposed. SOLUTION: There are provided a first block pattern, formed with a plurality of conductor patterns in parallel over a prescribed distance on a substrate in a first direction and a second block pattern formed with a plurality of conductor patterns in parallel over a prescribed distance on the substrate orthogonal to the first direction. The first block pattern and the second block pattern are arranged on the substrate in a checkered pattern, and an exciting current flows to the conductor patterns of the first block pattern and the second block pattern to generate an alternating magnetic field which inverts the magnetization inside the magnetic substance.
