PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and easily install a centralized meter reading system by simple work, and thereby to sharply reduce working cost. SOLUTION: In the case of installing the centralized meter reading system, an operator successively inputs data by using external input means of respective meters (M) installed in demander's residences of a multiple dwelling house in accordance with predetermined meter reading order. Each meter (M) stores a time stamp by a timer means by using an input from the external input means as a trigger and notifies its own ID and the time stamp to a centralized meter reading apparatus 1. The centralized meter reading apparatus 1 rearranges IDs in the time order by comparing the time stamps of IDs notified from respective meters (M). Since the meter reading order is made to correspond to room numbers, the IDs is made to accurately correspond to the room numbers.
