PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolytic water generator which can wash the inside of a water passage by discharging acidic electrolytic water containing hypochlorous acid at the beginning of water supply, and properly maintain the amount of water for sterilization and washing during this period. SOLUTION: A concentration measurement means 10 measures the concentration of hypochlorous acid of the acidic electrolytic water passing through the water passage 9, and a water supply detection means 11 detects the presence of water supply in a path from a water supply passage 8 to the water passage 9 through the electrolytic cell 6. When a water supply is detected by the water supply detection means 11, a control part 7 starts washing operation where a direct-current voltage having a polarity generating acidic electrolytic water in a first electrolytic chamber 3 is applied between a first electrode 1 and a second electrode 2 to supply the generated acidic electrolytic water generated in the first electrolytic chamber 3 to the water passage 9. Subsequently a washing time corresponding to the hypochlorous acid concentration detected by the concentration measurement means 10 is derived, and after passing the washing time, the washing operation is ended to adjust the voltage applied between the first electrode 1 and the second electrode 2 to the target water quality.
