A D/A converter is provided to prevent generation of an error due to division of a resistor string by largely obtaining output of an upper conversion unit and using the resistor string corresponding to a slightly larger bit than a bit required for a lower conversion unit. A D/A converter includes an upper conversion unit and a lower conversion unit. The upper conversion unit includes a resistor string(10) and converts an upper m bits signal of an input digital signal into a pair of analog signals with a width of lower n bits corresponding to the upper m bits signal. The lower conversion unit includes a resistor string(22) and divides the pair of analog signals outputted from the upper conversion unit to convert into the selected analog signal according to a lower n bits signal. The D/A converter further includes a pair of buffer amplifiers for stabilizing the output of the pair of analog signals of the upper conversion unit.
