PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately locate, from the surface of the ground, the position of a pipeline or the position of defects on the pipeline even when the pipeline itself moves or the linear shape of the pipeline changes after the construction of the pipeline. SOLUTION: A method for acquiring three-dimensional profile of a pipeline comprises: a step to acquire a three-dimensional profile coordinate indicating the shape of the pipeline in a coordinate system based on a reference point on the pipeline; a step to acquire, at multiple positions on the laid pipeline, the world geodetic system coordinate (using the Global Positioning System) of the multiple positions; and a step to replace the coordinate in the coordinate system based on the reference point at the same position as the multiple positions on the pipeline by the acquired world geodetic system coordinate and to transform, based on the replaced coordinate, all the coordinate data indicating the shape of the pipeline into the world geodetic system coordinate.
