TRAFFIC VOLUME CALCULATION SYSTEM AT INTERSECTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately estimate a traffic volume at an intersection by use of vehicle trace data of a probe vehicle without using a measuring facility on the ground. SOLUTION: The arrival traffic volume at the intersection is calculated by use of data of red signal start time tr of the intersection, stopping position L and stopping time ts at which the vehicle stops at the tail of a red signal waiting line, and distance Lh between the heads of stopped vehicles.
