A vehicle has multiple travel modes. A display device for the vehicle has a display section (48) for displaying map information and also has a control section (14) for causing the display section (48) to display a vehicle's travel mode in a recognizable manner on a road portion of the map information with the vehicle's travel mode corresponding to the road portion. Preferably, the control section (14) sets a destination according to an instruction by the operator, searches for a travel route from a start point to the destination, divides the travel route into sections, and matches any one of the travel modes to each section of the divided travel route. More preferably, the control section (14) causes the display section (48) to display travel route candidates on which travel modes are individually overlaid and selects one planned travel route from the travel route candidates according to an instruction by the operator.
