<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve visually seamless transition when switching a display mode of a chronology between a zoom-out display mode and a zoom-in display mode, to provide consistency as the chronology for the same event or object and to easily recognize the correspondence of the chronology design of each zoom level. <P>SOLUTION: In switching from the zoom-in display mode to the zoom-out display mode, an image obtained by overlapping layers of respective elements (elements 5a, 5b and 5c) of the chronology data for zoom-out display on the layers of respective elements (elements 6a-6h or the like) of chronology data for zoom-in display is displayed as a transition state. At this time, the respective elements of the chronology data for the zoom-out display are made translucent, transparency is gradually reduced, and the respective elements of the chronology data for the zoom-in display are finally eliminated.
