PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a magnetic recording medium in which desired magnetic patterns can be surely made. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the magnetic recording medium includes a step of using a stamper 21 which has a rugged surface for an intermediate member of the magnetic recording medium having a structure laminated with a conductive ground film 14 and a magnetic film 12', and bringing the rugged surface into abutment on the magnetic film 12' in the state of sticking an auxiliary conductive film 22 to the front end of a projecting part 21b on the rugged surface of the stamper 21, and a step of applying a voltage between the conductive ground film 14 of the intermediate member and the stamper 21.
