PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of control errors caused by the thickness variations of intermediate transfer members when controlling the image quality by detecting the density of the reference toner image to feed back to the image forming conditions.

SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus measures the reflectivity of the intermediate transfer member and corrects the parameters in the feedback control system depending on the reflectivity.
