PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of restraining the occurrence of white scratch on an image on the second side of a recording sheet when forming the image on both sides of the recording sheet.

SOLUTION: A copying machine capable of forming the image on both sides of the recording sheet S by forming the image on the second side of the recording sheet S after forming the image on the first side of the recording sheet S is equipped with: a secondary transfer roller 25; a fixing part 30 disposed on the downstream side of the transfer roller 25 along the conveyance path of the recording sheet S and fixing the toner image on the recording sheet S; and a destaticizing member 26 disposed in the middle of a conveyance path leading to the fixing part 30 from the transfer roller 25 and removing charge with which the recording sheet S is electrostatically charged. The loop amount d of the recording sheet S is made smaller when the toner image is transferred to the second side of the recording sheet than when the toner image is transferred to the first side of the recording sheet.
