<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IPS type liquid crystal display device for achieving both of reduction in influence of a leak electric field and high transmissivity. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal display panel having a liquid crystal layer held between a first substrate and a second substrate, and the liquid crystal display panel has a plurality of sub-pixels, which each have a first electrode formed on the first substrate and a second electrode stacked on the first electrode with an insulating film interposed. The first electrode is a plane type electrode and the second electrode is an electrode which extends in a first direction and has a plurality of linear portions arranged at predetermined intervals in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction in plan view. Then the liquid crystal display device drives liquid crystal of the liquid crystal layer by producing an electric field by the first and second electrodes, and the liquid crystal layer is thinner at a pixel boundary part between sub-pixels which are adjacent to each other in the second direction than at center portions of the sub-pixels. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
