PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element which can be driven stably for a long time through an inexpensive and simple fabrication process. SOLUTION: The electroluminescent element comprises an anode electrode, a hole transportation layer, a light emitting layer contiguous to the hole transportation layer, and a cathode electrode formed in this order wherein the hole transportation layer is formed by a solution application method, a light emitting layer material contained by 50 wt.% or more in the light emitting layer is added by 5-50 wt.% to the hole transportation layer, and materials other than the light emitting layer material out of the hole transporting materials contained in the hole transportation layer are not contained substantially in the light emitting layer.
