Expandable thermoplastic resin particles each having a concentric layered structure in which a section including the particle center contains a rubber ingredient in an amount of 10 wt.% or larger; expanded particles obtained therefrom; a foam; and a process for producing the foam. The foam can combine high unsusceptibility to breaking with high compression strength and is suitable for use as, e.g., a member for weight reduction in plastics, automotive member, heat-insulating member for buildings, and cushioning packaging material undergoing repetitions of falling.
