PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic nut prevented from falling when a socket wrench is moved into an optional installed position. SOLUTION: The nut 1 has a center hole for receiving a screw stud, and an outer surface of uniform prism shape forming a tool engaging region having a plurality of, specifically six, flat side faces 5. Each pair of side faces 5 forms a longitudinal edge 7, and an outward projecting holding element 11 is formed on the axially extending edge of the side face in a region of at least one side face 5.
