The arrangement has an outlet valve deactivated for starting a drive motor (1) of a compressor that is provided with a piston compressor (5) during connection of the compressor with cylinder capacity (8.1) for exhausting a pressure line (12). The outlet valve is activated when the drive motor reaches an operating speed or a rotational speed close to the operating speed. A passage for external air is opened with the deactivated outlet valve and is closed with the activated outlet valve. The drive motor is formed as an electric motor.
